National Library of Israel

The new National Library of Israel is dedicated to preserving Israel's cultural treasures and the global Jewish heritage. The exquisite new building, planned Herzog & de Meuron and completed in 2023, houses over 5 million books, and holds the world’s largest collection of Hebraica and Judaica, along with a vast repository of rare manuscripts, books, and artifacts.

We had the privilege of producing and designing the majority of content in the Librarys’ visitors center. Our work entailed close to 30 minutes of unique content, diverse interactive displays for the exhibition and a website for the 100 most distinct treasures on display

The initial section of the "Library Treasures" experience features a stunning series of 12 moving posters, each crafted in a distinct visual style. These posters highlight the diversity of the library's archives while telling powerful stories about the importance, beauty, and magic that reading and literature bring to life.

Every poster visually represents a unique section of the library, capturing its essence and emphasizing the deep meaning that comes with exploring these cultural treasures.

Located in the Government complex near the Knesset, the library plays a central role in safeguarding these legacies.

As part of its ongoing mission, a unique visitor route called "Library Treasures" was created, offering an immersive journey through the library’s rich collections.

The route is divided into three sections: interactive displays, permanent exhibitions, and rotating temporary exhibitions. The centerpiece of this experience is an innovative interactive display projected on a 20-meter-long screen. Designed to rekindle the joy of reading, this display invites visitors to reflect on the transformative power of books.

Through a visually captivating film, eleven individuals from diverse backgrounds across Israeli society share personal stories about a book or text that deeply impacted their lives. Since its launch, the film has resonated with tens of thousands of visitors, evoking emotional responses and admiration for its depth, quality, and aesthetic beauty.

The National Library's permanent exhibition presents a curated selection of cultural artifacts that represent the "spiritual treasures" of the Jewish people and the State of Israel. To enrich the visitor experience, we incorporated a range of digital assets, including interactive touchscreens for exploring extensive press collections, digital scrolling displays offering magnified views of exhibit details, interactive digital books, and audio features for listening to musical compositions and poetry. Together, these elements create an immersive, multi-sensory experience that deepens engagement with the exhibition's rich content

"A Treasury of Words," is an educational website that extends the reach of the National Library's exhibit, which showcases the most unique artifacts and cultural treasures of the Jewish People and the State of Israel, along with written cultures from the region. The site offers a rich, visual experience, guiding visitors through the stories and significance behind each artifact

Through a combination of high-resolution images and an intuitive design, users can explore each item as if examining it with a magnifying glass, while also viewing the collection in its entirety. The website serves both those who visited the physical exhibit and wish to deepen their understanding, and those unable to attend, providing a fully immersive and educational online experience.
